Consultation is available in the library on Wednesday evening from 6-8pm. No appointment is necessary. Please see the sign-in sheet on the door of Room 128. Print your name and then the consultant will work with you. 



Weekend and evening hours will be avilable in Spring 2019. However, we will gradually offer these hours, increasing them beginning in late January and early February. Please check the schedule regularly to choose hours M-Th 5-8pm and S 10am-1pm. 



The UMB Writing Center will be closed on Friday, May 16, due to commencement festivities. Congratulations to all graduates and their families and friends!



Summer schedule begins Monday, May 20. During the summer, we will have reduced hours, usually Monday-Friday 10 am-4 pm. 

You will be able to make appointments on the summer schedule starting the week of May 15. During that week, both spring and summer schedules will be live, so you will need to select the appropriate schedule. 

Welcome to 2019! For appointments between January 3-21, use the schedule called "Winter 2019."

For appointments on and after January 22, please use the schedule called "Spring 2019" (spring calendar will be available starting January 15).

The Writing Center will be closed from Friday, December 24, to Tuesday, January 1.

Scheduling Tips

  • Working on a group paper? Please email the Center directly.
  • Want to attach your paper to your appointment? Click the file folder under your name to upload the document.
  • Appointments last up to 50 minutes and can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance.
  • You can make one appointment per day and two appointments per week. If you feel that you need more, please email our director Dr. Isabell May.
  • We stronlgy recommend to not make appointments for the same day your paper is due. The impact of our feedback will be limited if you don's have sufficient time to revise your work.
  • Is everything booked? Click on the clock icon by the date to put yourself on our waiting list.
  • You have until 24 hours before your appointment to cancel. After this, all cancellations will be counted as no-shows.
  • After two no-shows, you will no longer be able to book appointments until you are cleared by admistrative staff.
